"Where is my order?" is your most expensive support question
Every store that ships knows the rhythm: the order confirmation email goes unread, the courier's SMS goes unread, and on day three the customer messages your Instagram, calls the office, or opens a dispute, asking something your systems already knew.
Support teams call these WISMO tickets (where is my order), and for many stores they're the single biggest slice of inbound queries. Each one costs a team member minutes and costs the customer some trust, because people ask when they're getting nervous.
The information exists. It is sitting in your admin panel and the courier's API; it simply travels on channels the customer stopped opening. Move the same updates to WhatsApp and the ticket never gets written.
Shipping updates on WhatsApp, triggered by your store
Growcord listens to order-status events from Shopify or WooCommerce (or from any courier panel, OMS or custom backend via webhooks and the REST API) and sends the matching approved template at each stage. Here's what a typical journey looks like:
A typical order journey on WhatsApp
| Order event | What the customer receives | Meta category |
|---|---|---|
Order placed | Confirmation with items, amount and order number | Utility |
Order shipped | Courier name and a live tracking link | Utility |
Out for delivery | Same-day alert, with the COD amount to keep ready, if applicable | Utility |
Delivered | Delivery confirmation and a support contact | Utility |
Delay or failed attempt | What happened and the next step, or a reschedule option | Utility |
A few days later | An optional review request | Marketing |
Message categories follow Meta's classification; India utility rates as of August 2026.
What order tracking messages cost
Utility conversations are the cheap category, roughly ₹0.12–0.13 per message in India at Meta's current rates. Better: under Meta's current pricing, a utility template delivered inside an already-open 24-hour service window is free (checked August 2026), and order updates often ride inside windows the customer's own replies keep opening.
Do the sum on your volume: 1,000 orders a month with four updates each is 4,000 messages, about ₹500 at the top rate, less in practice. Weigh that against the WISMO calls your team fields now; you can put your own rupee value on those. The category system is explained in the conversation pricing guide, and the 24-hour window guide covers when a window is open.
Growcord's own fee is separate and flat: Basic at ₹299/month, or ₹99/month billed yearly, with 200 conversations included; Startup at ₹799 (₹399 yearly) covers 1,000, which is where a store shipping 250 orders a month lands. Meta's charges pass through as credits at Meta's published rate, no markup, and the subscription carries a 7-day unconditional money-back guarantee. All four plans are on the pricing page.
Delivery alerts do real work on delivery day
The out-for-delivery message is the underrated one. It tells a COD customer how much cash or UPI to keep ready, warns that a courier will call, and cuts the failed attempts that happen simply because nobody was home.
Failed attempts feed straight into RTO, the expensive problem covered in COD confirmation and reduce COD RTO. And when a customer replies to any update "can you deliver after 6 pm?". The conversation lands in the shared team inbox, where a person can actually help instead of the reply dying in an unmonitored SMS gateway.

Connect the order source
Shopify and WooCommerce connect natively. Courier panels, OMS or a custom backend send status events through the REST API or webhooks.
Approve the templates
One template per event, confirmation, shipped, out for delivery, delivered. Order-update formats are the fastest through Meta approval.
Map events to messages
Choose which statuses send, which stay silent, and the language for each template. COD orders can get their own variants.
Read the report, answer the replies
Delivered and read counts show per template, and customer replies flow into the team inbox or a bot flow.
Put order updates where customers will see them
Connect your store, approve four templates, and every order explains itself. Free tier: 1 number, 50 conversations a month.

Frequently asked questions
Can I send order updates on WhatsApp automatically?
Yes. Connect Shopify or WooCommerce to Growcord and status changes trigger the matching template on their own, order placed, shipped, out for delivery, delivered. Custom stores and courier systems trigger the same messages through a REST API call or webhook. Nothing is sent by hand.
Are WhatsApp order notifications free to send?
Almost. Order updates are utility conversations, roughly ₹0.12–0.13 each in India at Meta's current rates, and a utility template delivered inside an already-open 24-hour service window is free under Meta's current pricing (checked August 2026). Growcord passes Meta's fees through as credits at Meta's published rate, with no markup added, and the cost is visible per message.
Do customers need to save my number to get updates?
No. Messages sent through the WhatsApp Business API reach every customer who opted in at checkout, whether or not they saved your number, and they see your business name on the chat. That's a real difference from the WhatsApp Business app, which is limited on this.
Can customers reply to a shipping update?
Yes, and that's half the point. A reply like "deliver after 6 pm please" opens a conversation in Growcord's shared inbox, where your team or a bot responds. SMS and email updates are one-way; on WhatsApp the notification and the support channel are the same thread.
Can I include a live tracking link in the message?
Yes. Templates support URL buttons, so the shipped message can carry a button straight to the courier's tracking page, or to your own order-status page. The link is personalised per order with merge fields, so each customer lands on their own consignment's tracking, not a generic page.
Do I need a developer to set this up?
Not for Shopify or WooCommerce. Those are connect-and-map integrations with no code. If your orders live in a custom cart, ERP or courier panel, a developer wires one webhook or API call per status event; the API docs show the exact request.
